Son La province home to 16 national intangible cultural heritages

Son La province now has 16 national intangible cultural heritages recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Kin Pang Then ritual of the Thai ethnic group in Quynh Nhai district is included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages.

They include the Xoe dance of Thai ethnic people; the art of drawing patterns on Mong and Dao costumes; the flute playing art of the Mong ethnic group; Mo Muong (a performance practiced at funerals, religious festivals, and life cycle rituals by the Muong ethnic group); the ancient script of Thai ethnic people; and traditional festivals, rituals, social and religious practices of ethnic groups in the province.

The recognition contributes to honouring traditional cultural products, encouraging the communities to join hands to preserve and promote their groups’ valuable cultural heritages.
