The event formed part of activities celebrating Son La city’s inclusion in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
With two areas, the exhibition features 12 booths, of them six highlighting traditional culture of ethnic groups in Son La city through performances of folk songs and dances, and cuisine; along with knitting and pieu scarf weaving competitions, and such traditional games as to mak le, tung con (throwing a ball through a ring for good luck), di ca kheo (walking on stilts) and day gay (stick pushing). Such activities have seen the participation of artisans, amateur artists, and athletes from wards and communes in Son La.
The other six introduce 17 STEM/STEAM models at schools across Son La city, including automatic hand-washing machine – a STEM product of the fifth grade, rubber band vehicle of the second, future life model on Mars themed “Earth and planets” of the third, water music show model of the first grade, automatic fire alarm and firefighting model, and wind generation model, among other creative products.
Following the opening ceremony, delegates visited the booths introducing traditional culture, local community activities, and STEM/STEAM educational products.
