At the conference reviewing Phase I of the project on improving living conditions for ethnic minority communities (July 2022 – September 2025).

The first phase of the project, funded by Germany’s Bread for the World and implemented by RIC, was carried out in 16 hamlets across the four commune of Chieng Xuan, Chieng Yen, Song Khua, and Suoi Bang (now Van Ho, To Mua, Chieng Son, and Song Khua communes).

Delegates share experience during project implementation.

After more than three years of implementation, RIC organised 32 training courses to strengthen the capacity of 320 community group members and participating households on planning, techniques for forest planting combined with short-term crops and medicinal plants, environmentally friendly farming methods, and market linkages.

The project also carried out 102 livelihood development models and facilities, including maintenance and construction of irrigation and domestic water systems, with a total budget of 12.8 billion VND (485,200 USD).

The effectiveness of the project and the strong support of local people provide a solid foundation for the implementation of the second phase from July 2025 to August 2028 in Van Ho, To Mua, and Song Khua communes, aiming to improve living conditions and increase incomes for poor households in the target areas.
