Moc Chau launches communication campaign against child, consanguineous marriages

The People’s Committee of Moc Chau township launched the 2025 communication campaign on the prevention of child and consanguineous marriages in Chieng Khua commune on April 16.

At the launching ceremony of the communication campaign against child and consanguineous marriages.

According to statistics from the township People’s Committee, the rate of child marriage has gradually declined over the years, but it remains at a concerning level.

Over the past four years, 288 cases of child marriage and one consanguineous marriage have been recorded in the locality, primarily due to low education levels, limited legal awareness, and a lack of understanding about the consequences of child and consanguineous marriages among ethnic minority communities.

Given this, Moc Chau has encouraged the involvement of the entire political system, strengthening communication efforts to raise public awareness of the consequences of child marriage, consanguineous marriage, and domestic violence.

At the launching ceremony, delegates were informed about the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on marriage and family, gender equality, population and family planning, prevention of domestic violence, and human trafficking.

The programme also focused on consequences and impacts of child marriage and consanguineous marriage, the negative effects on young people, and the responsibilities of parents in educating their children about reproductive health, and in preventing child marriage and consanguineous marriage.
