
The Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in Son La city.
Attending the event were Ha Trung Chien, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, Secretary of the city Party Committee, Chairman of the city People's Council, and head of the Steering Committee for Building the Global Learning City; and leaders of departments, sectors, and organisations of Son La province.

Delegates spread the importance of books, reaffirmed the eternal value of knowledge, and the love for learning and books in every Vietnamese person, as well as every citizen and student of Son La city, a member of the UNESCO Global Learning Cities Network.

In response to the Day, the city has implemented a series of rich and practical activities.

Delegates attending the programme also engaged in discussions with Dr. Pham Ngoc Son, a lecturer at Google for Education, on the topic "Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in Governance and Work". This is the topic the city is aiming for in the coming time to catch up with the trend of AI.

Speaking at the event, Chien emphasised the need for authorities at all levels, sectors, schools, teachers, students and people in Son La city to continue to build a dynamic learning community, contributing to building a prosperous and happy country, bringing Son La city to a new position in the global learning city network.

On this occasion, the organising board awarded five first, six second, five third and 22 consolation prizes to winning individuals and collectives of three competitions; and honoured the youngest contestant in the contest to preserve and develop the language and handwriting of ethnic minorities.
