Chieng Mai promotes livestock development

Chieng Mai commune, Son La province, now has over 11,000 head of livestock and nearly 300,000 poultry of various types.

To ensure sustainable livestock development, the commune has dispatched officials to hamlets to propagate and guide farmers on the care and disease prevention for livestock and poultry. It has also encouraged residents to raise animals in pens, cultivate nearly 400 hectares of elephant grass (pennisetum purpureum), proactively providing feed for the animals.

At the same time, strict inspections have been carried out on the slaughtering and transportation of livestock and poultry to prevent outbreaks of diseases in the locality.

Chieng Mai was established by merging five former communes: Chieng Ban, Chieng Mai, Chieng Dong, Chieng Kheo, and Chieng Ve.
