The second phase of the project, funded by Bread for the World (BftW), is being implemented in the four above-mentioned communes under a two-level administration model, starting in August 2024 and expected to conclude by the end of 2026. Its main goal is to help communities in the Northwest reduce poverty, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and adapt to climate change, thereby contributing to sustainable development goals.

Since its launch, the project has conducted surveys on crop and livestock production among households participating in cooperatives, assessed climate risks, and carried out basic project studies. It has organised training sessions on circular economy, crop and livestock techniques, instructions on how to make probiotics, and capacity building for production and value chains in the target communes. It has also provided training on the role of forests, biodiversity in forest ecosystems, and forest monitoring in fire prevention and control.

The project has helped establish and strengthen 10 forest protection teams to coordinate with local forest protection units in forest management, provided 200 forest patrol uniforms and five medical kits to the forest protection teams, supplied microbial inoculants to 180 households, and supported 28 biogas tanks for livestock waste treatment.

At the meeting, participants agreed to establish a provincial-level Task Force as outlined in the project document to ensure continuity and effectiveness in project implementation, while also integrating local funding as counterpart contributions in accordance with regulations.

The department requested the Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection to coordinate with SRD to develop a detailed plan for implementing project tasks through the end of 2025. The Sub-Department of Forest Protection was tasked with reviewing and re-evaluating the reforestation areas already implemented under the project as a basis for subsequent reforestation projects.
