The province has over 85,000 hectares of fruit and Son tra (docynia indica) trees. The total fruit harvest in 2025 is expected to exceed 510,000 tonnes, an increase of 31% compared to 2024. Several key fruit trees are projected to have large harvests, including banana with 63,000 tonnes; plum, nearly 100,000 tonnes; mango, nearly 100,000 tonnes; and longan, 155,000 tonnes. The main harvest season runs from March to November.

The meeting is connected online to localities across Son La.

The province is supporting and maintaining 218 planting area codes, covering a total of 3,142 hectares, along with eight export packing facility codes. The packed products include longan, mango, macadamia nut, and passion fruit.

Additionally, 308 safe agricultural food supply chains have been established, with a total area of over 4,500 hectares and an annual market supply of more than 50,000 tonnes. Around 100,000 tonnes of fruit are delivered to processing factories and facilities within the province, while the remainder serve the domestic market.

Speaking at the meeting, Cong called on steering committee members and the People’s Committees of districts, Moc Chau township, and Son La city to review the planning of fruit-growing areas. He urged further investment in science-technology in production, with a focus on variety selection, cultivation techniques, productivity and product quality.

The official also emphasised promoting mass production, concentrating on key products and those with competitive advantages to meet the demands of both domestic and international markets.
