Son La athletes break national record in youth women's javelin throw

Athletes from Son La province won two medals and broke a national record in women’s javelin throw at the National Youth Athletics Championships 2023, according to the provincial Sports Training and Competition Center.

Athletes Ca To Uyen and Ca Thi Quyen receive gold and bronze medals from the Organizing Committee

The 2023 National Youth Athletics Championships took place on August 2-12 in the central city of Da Nang. The Son La delegation to the tournament included one coach and three athletes. Of which, athlete Ca To Uyen won the gold medal and broke the national record in women's javelin throw with an achievement of 48.2m. She was recognized as a national master. Meanwhile, athlete Ca Thi Quyen won the bronze medal in the women's javelin throw with a record of 39.36m. Son La ranked 20th in the tournament’s medal tally.

This year's event brought together nearly 400 athletes from 51 localities and units nationwide to compete in 26 events for men, 26 events for women and two mixed relay events.

The annual tournament aims to evaluate the training of young track and field athletes in localities and sectors and select excellent athletes for the national youth teams to participate in international high-performance tournaments.
