Candlelight ceremonies honour heroic martyrs

The Son La city Youth Union held a “Candlelight Tribute” ceremony to honour the heroic martyrs at the city Martyrs' Cemetery on the evening of April 28, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025).

Attending the ceremony were representatives from the city’s Veterans Association, the Former Youth Volunteers Association, and 150 youth union members and young people from the Son La city Youth Union, Tay Bac (Northwest) University, Son La College, and Son La Medical College.

Before the sacred spirits of the martyrs, the delegates and youth reported on their meaningful contributions, showcasing the vigor of youth in building a prosperous and strong homeland. They respectfully offered flowers and incense, and lit candles at the graves of the martyrs—those who courageously sacrificed their lives for the protection of the nation.

Also on the evening of April 28, at the Mai Son district Martyrs' Cemetery, the district Youth Union held a similar incense and candlelighting ceremony to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of National Reunification.

Attending the ceremony were district leaders; officers and soldiers from the district Military Command and Mobile Police Battalion No. 2 under the Ministry of Public Security; and youth representatives from communes and town across the district.

At the ceremony, local leaders, officers, soldiers, and youth union members expressed deep gratitude and respect for the immense contributions and sacrifices of the martyrs. In front of the heroes’ spirits, they pledged to continue striving in study, working, and serving the nation, following the example of great President Ho Chi Minh and upholding the glorious traditions of previous generations, joining hands to build a more prosperous, civilised Mai Son.
