Construction begins on Phieng Pan Primary - Secondary Boarding School

The provincial Military Command held the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the Phieng Pan Primary - Secondary Boarding School in Phieng Pan commune on October 22.

Attending the event were Colonel Chu Van Thanh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Commander of the provincial Military Command; representatives from the provincial Party Committee’s Board for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilisation; and leaders of several provincial departments and agencies.

Delegates attends the ceremony.

The school will include many facilities such as classrooms, a library, an administrative building, dormitories, staff housing, a student canteen, a multipurpose hall, a swimming pool, outdoor sports grounds, and other auxiliary structures, meeting the learning needs of more than 1,000 students who are children of ethnic minority groups in the border area. The total investment exceeds 200 billion VND (7.6 million USD).

A large number of local residents attend the ground-breaking ceremony.

Currently, Phieng Pan commune has five schools with 33 school sites, 153 classes, and more than 4,500 students, of whom about 1,500 are semi-boarding students. Many of these school sites have seriously deteriorated, lacking functional classrooms, dormitories, libraries, playgrounds, and teaching equipment, which makes students’ learning difficult.

The ground-breaking ceremony marks an important step in realising the goal of “each border commune has a spacious, modern school.” It reflects the care and commitment of the Party, the State, and the Party Organisation, authorities, and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province in nurturing education in the border areas - the frontiers of the nation.

Delegates break ground for the construction of the school.

The construction unit gathers machinery and equipment for building the school.

Speaking at the event, a representative of the provincial Military Command requested contractors, construction, and supervision units to complete all legal procedures; mobilise manpower, equipment, and materials to ensure progress; and strictly comply with State laws, military discipline, and local regulations.

An art performance celebrates the ground-breaking ceremony.
