Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs visit flood-hit residents in Moc Chau district

A delegation from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) led by Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung visited and presented gifts to residents affected by typhoon Yagi, especially vulnerable groups and children, in Moc Chau district on September 27.

According to statistics from Moc Chau district, the typhoon caused heavy rains and strong winds, affecting 517 households, with nine houses collapsing, 25 others requiring urgent evacuation of members, and nearly 500 hectares of agricultural land damaged. Some roads were also hit by landslides or flooded. Total damage was estimated at approximately 20 billion VND ($812,678).

In Chieng Son commune alone, 64 households were impacted, including four collapsing, and 13 hectares of crops were destroyed. Following the "four on-the-spot" approach, the district mobilised forces and vehicles to fix the disaster's consequences, counted losses and proposed timely support plans for affected residents.

Deputy Minister Dung expressed his sympathy and encouragement to those impacted by the typhoon and praised the efforts of Moc Chau district in rescue and recovery efforts. He urged the district to continue supporting residents in restoring production and stabilizing their lives, and caring for policy beneficiary families and children in difficulties.

The delegation provided assistance of 40 million VND to each of the five families whose houses completely collapsed in the district. Ten other affected families and 14 children in need received 1 million VND each.
