Provincial leader inspects natural disaster recovery efforts

Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, and head of the provincial Delegation to the National Assembly, on July 30 conducted an inspection to assess the flood recovery efforts in several communes.

Accompanying him were Trang Thi Xuan, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee; and Colonel Chu Van Thanh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Commander of the provincial Military Command.

The four communes of Huoi Mot, Bo Sinh, Muong Lam, and Chieng So were among the hardest hit by the recent floods. According to preliminary reports, the disaster left five people dead and one missing, swept away 58 houses entirely, and caused nearly 400 homes to collapse or face a high risk of landslides. Hundreds of households were forced to evacuate, with significant losses of property and crops. Transportation routes were cut off, and communication infrastructure was severely affected.

After graspingn the situation in the affected areas, Viet called on local authorities and relevant forces to continue their efforts, mobilising all available resources to support the people. The immediate priority, he emphasised, is to ensure shelter, food, and travelling conditions for them.
