Preliminary reports show Typhoon Bualoi, the 10th to hit the East Sea this year, flooded more than 31.7 hectares of rice and 210 hectares of corn. Five houses in Chieu and Thai hamlets lost their roofs, while the Hang Da site of the Tan Lang Primary-Secondary School were completely inundated. The inter-commune road from Diet hamlet to Phu Yen commune’s centre was damaged and blocked, with landslides also cutting off several local and inter-hamlet routes.

Muong Coi’s Civil Defence Command has mobilised forces to help households at risk of landslides move belongings to safety and arranged temporary shelter. Warning signs and barriers were set up at hazardous sites, while contingency measures are being implemented to help residents resume normal life quickly.

Forces join cleanup efforts at the Hang Da school site immediately after floodwaters recede.

Cong instructed Muong Coi to swiftly deploy machinery to clear mud and debris from blocked, landslide-hit roads. He also directed forces to help the school clean and disinfect flooded classrooms at the Hang Da site. At the same time, he called for coordination with specialised agencies to study building a drainage tunnel for flood control. The commune should propose the provincial People’s Committee allocate funding to ensure the best conditions for teaching and learning.
