The Huoi Mot People's Committee reported that heavy rains and floods from July 26 to August 1 damaged houses of 179 households across 23 hamlet. Among them, 43 families experienced complete collapse or washing away of their homes; 23 had to be urgently relocated due to landslides; 98 at risk of landslides were also urgently relocated; and 15 suffered partial damage of less than 30%. Cracks appeared in the hamlet of Nam Pu, Cang Coi, and Cha Huoi.

The old Huoi Mot – Nam Man road, stretching 21 kilometers, along with many inter-hamlet and intra-hamlet roads, suffered landslides, causing traffic blockages. Floods also washed away one concrete bridge and caused landslides and subsidence at several schools and their satellite sites in the locality.

Immediately after the disaster, Huoi Mot commune mobilised local forces to urgently evacuate residents and provided food and supplies to affected households. Currently, many transportation routes passing through the commune, such as National Highway 4G, the old Huoi Mot – Nam Man road, and the Pung Khuong – Nam Man route, have suffered dozens of landslides, completely cutting off access.

During his field inspection of the situation in the hamlets, Cong requested that Huoi Mot commune mobilise local forces to focus on disaster recovery; develop plans to repair damage at schools and their branches; provide food and supplies to residents in remote hamlets that are isolated to prevent hunger.

The commune should organise around-the-clock on-duty teams to promptly handle any unexpected situations. Sufficient food and essential supplies must be prepared in advance to be ready to respond to the forecast widespread heavy rains from August 4 to 8, he said.
