This year’s competition featured 36 teams, including 12 community-based fire safety groups, 12 civil defence teams from communes and wards, and 12 firefighting units at facilities with a high risk of fire and explosion.

Civil defence teams and firefighting units at facilities with a high risk of fire and explosion competed in two disciplines: a firefighting relay combined with moving assets to prevent fire spread, and a combined event involving firefighting and rescuing people from a blaze.

Community-based fire safety groups were tested on fire prevention and rescue knowledge, and practiced firefighting, rescuing people, and moving assets from mixed-use residential and business premises.

Teams compete in the knowledge part.

The knowledge part comprised 30 questions covering fire prevention and rescue laws, regulations, and directives, as well as firefighting and rescue skills. The 12 teams, drawn by lot, competed in 12 rounds in a direct Q&A format.

Twelve community-based fire safety groups from communes and wards took part in the practicing part, involving firefighting, rescuing people, and moving assets from mixed-use residential and business premises. Each eight-member team performed a series of drills, including sounding the alarm, using fire extinguishers to put out blazes, breaking locks to rescue victims, and moving assets to safety.
