The festival consisted of ceremonial and festival parts. The ceremonial part, held early in the morning and chaired by a shaman, reflected the Thai people’s deep respect for their ancestors and the deities who protect the land, rivers, and mountains. It also aimed to honour those who have contributed to the development and protection of the hamlets and pray for peace, prosperity, good harvests, and smooth business.

The festive part featured numerous cultural activities, sports competitions, and traditional folk games such as embroidery of pieu headscarf patterns, con (cloth ball) throwing, and blindfolded duck catching, with the participation of over 180 athletes from eight hamlets in Pac Nga commune.
There were also nine booths displaying traditional handicrafts and foods from the Thai ethnic group in the area, offering visitors a diverse experience of the local culture and lifestyle.

The Xen Muong Festival in Pac Nga not only helps preserve and uphold the unique cultural heritage of the Thai people but also promotes the image of Pac Nga to both domestic and international tourists, contributing to the development of local tourism.
