Six organisations and three individuals from Son La province were honoured across various categories at the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) Awards 2025 ceremony held on April 10 in Hanoi.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dang Ngoc Hau, who is head of the Representative Unit of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP)’s Son La branch (VBSP Son La), chaired a meeting on April 10 to evaluate the bank’s performance in the first quarter of 2025 and put forth key tasks for the second quarter.

The provincial fund for the poor held a ceremony on April 10 to receive financial support from Xuan Thien Group, based in Ninh Binh province, for a local programme aimed at eliminating substandard housing.

In the first quarter of 2025, farmers in the communes of Van Ho district cultivated 700 hectares of spring rice, 901 hectares of various vegetables, and over 960 hectares of biomass corn.

Ha Trung Chien, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Secretary of Son La city’s Party Committee, on April 9 inspected the progress of the eradication of temporary and dilapidated houses in Chieng Den and Chieng Co communes.

Trang Thi Xuan, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee, and head of Inspection Team No. 2 under the provincial steering committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, inspected the work in Muong La district on April 9.

In the first quarter of 2025, Van Ho district welcomed over 73,000 visitors, including 19,000 staying overnight, and more than 54,000 coming for sightseeing. Its tourism revenue reached nearly 64 billion VND (2.5 million USD).

Often likened to a miniature Ha Long Bay nestled among the mountains of northwestern Vietnam, the Son La Hydropower Plant reservoir boasts magnificent and dramatic natural landscapes. This beauty is being harnessed and developed into a unique tourism product, with the aim of turning it into a national tourism area.

The groundbreaking ceremony of Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway’s section through Son La province is scheduled to take place from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on May 19, at Km85+300 (Km69+800 on National Road 43) in Van Son ward, Moc Chau township.

The Trieu Khuc charitable delegation from Hanoi, in collaboration with Son La Newspaper, organised a ceremony in Bo Sinh commune, Song Ma district, on April 8 to inaugurate the “beautiful classroom for children” project at Hoa Phuong Do Kindergarten.

Since the beginning of the year, Son La province has offered 1,866 administrative procedures on the provincial Public Service Portal and 716 procedures on the National Public Service Portal.

Since the beginning of this year, export activities in Son La province have been stable, with a total export value of 87.26 million USD in the first quarter, a 21.27% increase year-on-year.

The Party Committee of the provincial Department of Public Security on April 8 launched a special political campaign themed “People’s Public Security officers uphold ethics, refine conduct, value honour; and stay united, innovative, exemplary, disciplined, and responsible to serve the nation and the people”.
