The event was jointly organised by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the provincial Women's Union, and the People's Committee of Son La city.

Participants discussed such topics as the current situation and solutions to preserve and promote the tradition of civilised behavior in the family; gender and gender-based domestic violence; promoting the role of reputable people in the community in educating the young generation on family morality and lifestyle.

At the same time, they shared stories about behavioral culture in the family as well as experience in handling family conflicts; learned about the Law on Prevention of and Control over Domestic Violence and a code of conduct in the family.

The symposium aimed to encourage the building of a prosperous, equal, progressive and happy family; and promote the protection, care and education of children, contributing to the social and cultural development in Son La province.
