Son La promotes beauty of ethnic minority markets

The Ethnic Culture Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Son La province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Van Ho district People's Committee organised a training course on preserving and promoting the cultural beauty of ethnic minority markets in Chieng Di 2 hamlet, Van Ho commune, on November 10-11.

The class brought together 76 cultural officials from communes, artisans, village heads, and representatives of business households in the tourism sector who belong to ethnic minority groups in Van Ho district. They learnt about the current status, results and effectiveness of markets in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas; challenges facing the markets amid the market economy; how to organise the markets in accordance with local customs and practices; and the re-enaction of such markets.

The programme aims to preserve and promote the fine traditional culture of ethnic minorities, as well as the markets given the impacts of the market economy, while helping locals create unique cultural and tourist spaces and products, thus attracting more visitors./.
