The Nom script of the Dao people was created thousands of years ago, using Chinese characters to transcribe and record the language of the ethnic group. Thanks to their own script, since ancient times, the Dao people have owned a system of valuable materials with dozens of written books recording customs and rules, the ‘cap sac’ (maturity) ritual and the ritual pushing away bad lucks, as well as books teaching people to do good deeds and avoid bad ones. These treasures have been passed down from generation to generation.
During the course, running through November 12, students are taught the skills of writing, reading and translating Nom Dao script, contributing to raising awareness of preserving and promoting the traditional values of the Dao people in general and Nom Dao script in particular.
