Training workshop improves skills for community-based tourism service providers

The People's Committee of Son La city organised a training workshop on tourism skills in Chieng Co commune from August 26-30 for 42 representatives from families involved in community-based tourism services and officials in the locality.

During the training workshop, participants received instructions from lecturers of Tay Bac (Northwest) University on various aspects of tourism and accommodation services at private homes. The training covered a range of topics, including hygiene, environmental protection, and safety in tourism business; tourist serving, reception and housekeeping services; tourist communication and care; tour guiding and interpretation skills; financial management and revenue optimisation; and catering service and cooking skills.

The training workshop aimed to enhance professionalism among families involved in community-based tourism services. It focused on improving skills in communicating with, welcoming and serving tourists, managing service quality, operating and managing homestays, and developing community tourism while preserving and promoting cultural identity, meeting the tourism development needs of the locality in the new period.
