Border spring programme warms hamlet residents’ hearts

The Long Sap Border Guard Station, in collaboration with sponsors, held a programme for residents in Long Sap and Chieng Khua communes, Moc Chau township on January 19-20, on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) 2025.

The units presented 567 gifts to households in difficult circumstances, and policy beneficiaries, along with 140 scholarships to poor students with good learning performance. They also granted four lighting projects; provided free medical examination and medicine to 400 locals; and presented national flags and portraits of President Ho Chi Minh to hamlets in Long Sap and Chieng Khua communes.

On this occasion, “zero-dong” booths were installed, offering free essential items for families in difficult circumstances, and policy beneficiaries. The total value of the programme was over 1.5 billion VND (59,235 USD).

In addition, the programme also included activities such as wrapping banh chung (square sticky rice cake), pounding banh day (round sticky rice cake), throwing con (cloth ball), pushing sticks, and tug of war.

This annual event aims to help people in border areas welcome a warm new spring and to strengthen the relationship between the army and people in the border area.
