In the 2024-2025 academic year, the college receives 297 Lao students and trainees, of whom 176 study Vietnamese language preparatory course for one year, and 121 that are officials of departments and sectors, and officers of the armed forces learn Vietnamese language for nine months.

After completing the programme and receiving a Vietnamese language certificate, these students will be considered for admission to majors at Son La College or other educational establishments in the province for professional training according to the plans and requirements of the Lao provinces.

The Lao students and trainees also have opportunities to participate in cultural, physical education and sports activities; and visit historical sites and scenic spots in Son La and some places in Vietnam to enhance their understanding of Vietnamese culture and people and improve their ability to practice the Vietnamese language.

Son La College commits to fulfilling the training programme and plan, ensure full and timely implementation of the province's support policies as well as studying and living conditions for the students.

Representatives of the northern Lao provinces expressed their hope that the college will regularly exchange information and the situation of the students to promptly solve difficulties and problems during the training process.
