Son La, Laos’ Houaphanh hold talks on management of freelancers in border areas

The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Son La province and the Department of Labour and Social Welfare of Laos’s Houaphanh province on November 29 held talks on the management of freelancers in their border areas.

Leaders of both sides briefed each other on their respective province’s socio-economic situation; results of the implementation of labour work, job creation and vocational education, social protection, child care, and social welfare, and labour migration across the Vietnam - Laos border.

At the talks, representatives from the two departments exchanged experience in dissemination of legal documents and legal norms in the field of labour and social welfare, as well as in inspection, supervision, and management of labour migration.

The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Son La province presents gifts to the delegation of the Department of Labour and Social Welfare of Houaphanh province.

The two units also approved a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, under which they will continue strengthening coordination in managing migrant workers in border areas between Vietnam and Laos, step up dissemination of laws on entry and exit, and cooperation in cross-border labour management, and maintain information exchange and coordination to solve arising problems. The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Son La province will continue to promote job creation programmes, improve the quality of human resources, and proactively grasp the situation of labourers working in Laos to coordinate with authorised agencies to take solutions to support and protect citizens in accordance with regulations.
