"Accompanying women in border areas" programme held

The provincial Women's Union held the "Accompanying women in border areas" programme on January 15 in Muong Va commune, Sop Cop district on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) 2025.

The programme mobilises the participation of women's unions and border guards nationwide to join hands in helping women in especially difficult border communes and ethnic minority areas. In 2024, the provincial Women's Union received funding of over 830 million VND (32,700 USD). It supported nine livelihood models for 136 members; presented 22 breeding animals, 1,750 seedlings; built two "Shelters of Love"; and provided medical check-ups and free medicine to more than 700 members; built a canteen for students; and presented 230 gifts totaling 196 million VND. Efforts were also made to maintain the operation of 15 "Women's unions participate in protecting border markers" models.

At the programme, the units presented backpacks and notebooks to 100 primary school students of Muong Va Primary - Secondary School; 271 Tet gifts to students and women's union members in difficult circumstances, worth 500 VND each; 40 cartons of milk to Muong Va Kindergarten; and 20 boxes of milk to 20 elderly people. The national flag and Uncle Ho's photos were granted to 21 hamlets of Muong Va commune. In addition, there was also a contest to wrap banh chung (square glutinous rice cake) and tug of war competitions.
