EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier visited the nickel mine in Phuc hamlet, Muong Khoa commune, Bac Yen district, on February 19, part of his trip to Son La province.

The movement to promote learning, encourage talent, and build a learning society in Son La province is growing strongly, contributing to improving public knowledge, discovering and nurturing talent, and inspiring students’ dreams. It also motivates individuals and groups with outstanding achievements to continue pursuing education and creative labour.

EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier on February 18 led a delegation to visit La province, where he had a working session with local leaders, including Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, and head of Son La province’s delegation of NA deputies; and Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee.

In order to bring diverse experiences to passengers, and promote Vietnamese agricultural products, Vietnam Airlines officially serves Son La strawberries - one of the outstanding specialties of the northwestern region - on its flights from February 16-22.

Ceremonies to see off recruits were held simultaneously in Son La city, Moc Chau township, and districts across Son La province on the morning of February 15.

A marathon kicked off in Phieng Khoai commune, Yen Chau district on February 15, highlighting the district’s breathtaking spring scenery.

Son La city’s Military Command, in coordination with the Military Youth Committee and the Political Department of Military Region 2, launched a tree planting festival on February 14.

Leaders of Son La city and representatives from the Political Department of Military Region 2, along with 132 local young citizens enlisted in the military and police forces for 2025, laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Tay Bac (Northwest) Square and visited the Son La Prison Martyrs' Cemetery on February 14.

Tapping its potential and advantages in developing medicinal plants, Son La province has implemented numerous programmes and projects to support seedling development, conduct research and trial planting of medicinal plants to conserve genetic resources, and build linkage chains for production and product consumption. These efforts not only create livelihoods for local people but also form an effective “green” belt to protect forests.

Strawberries grown in Son La province will be served on in-flight meals on Vietnam Airlines flights, under an agreement between the provincial People’s Committee and the national flag carrier.

Muong La district on February 12 launched a 79-day emulation campaign to do away with temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025.

In the early days of spring, along with the plum blossoms on the Moc Chau plateau, in Chieng Co commune, Son La city, plum orchards are also bursting with white flowers, covering the hillsides. The pure beauty of the plum blossoms has attracted many locals and tourists to admire and capture beautiful moments.

The Yen Chau running race 2025, slated for February 15, is expected to attract nearly 1,000 professional and amateur runners, competing in both men's and women's categories, with two distances of 7 km and 15 km.

A cultural space of Long Luong commune took place on February 9 as part of the Long Luong Peach Blossom Festival.

Muong La district held a ceremony on February 9 to launch the Traffic Safety Year 2025, with the theme "Safe journey builds up the future".

A contest featuring the traditional costumes of ethnic groups in Quynh Nhai district was held at the district Media and Culture Center on February 8 evening.
