Son La strawberries served on Vietnam Airlines flights

Strawberries grown in Son La province will be served on in-flight meals on Vietnam Airlines flights, under an agreement between the provincial People’s Committee and the national flag carrier.

The provincial People’s Committee organised a ceremony in Co Noi commune, Mai Son district on February 12 to mark the transportation of locally grown strawberries to be served on the airline’s flights.

Attending the ceremony were Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong; leaders of Vietnam Airlines, several provincial departments and agencies, and the Mai Son district People's Committee; and members of strawberry cooperatives in Co Noi commune.

2025 is the second year that Son La province implements the comprehensive cooperation agreement between the provincial People’s Committee and the airline for the 2024-2028 period.

In the 2024-2025 strawberry crop year, the whole province grows this fruit on 743.2 hectares, with an expected output of around 9,370 tonnes. The consumption is estimated at 2,094 tonnes, mainly in Mai Son, Moc Chau and Yen Chau districts. In Mai Son alone, there are 557.4 hectares of strawberries, with an expected output of 7,506 tonnes.

Son La strawberries meet the required standards such as using organic fertilisers, having no pathogens and no pesticide residues, being irradiated against parasites, having a food safety certificate from a competent authority, owning a clear origin, and ensuring quality, ensuring food safety and hygiene, and meeting conditions of the domestic and export markets.

Speaking at the event, Cong urged the provincial Centre for Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion to collaborate with Vietnam Airlines in providing information and images about the province’s famous destinations, tourism events, as well as activities related to diplomacy, culture, investment, trade promotion, typical tourism products, and OCOP (One Commune, One Product) items. This would support promotional efforts on Vietnam Airlines publications, in domestic and international tourism events, and at Vietnam Airlines' representative offices in countries with direct flights operated by the airline.
