Olympic Run for public health takes place in Son La city

The Olympic Run for public health was held in Chieng Den commune, Son La city on the morning of February 17 (the eighth day of the Lunar New Year 2024.

The event formed part of activities to celebrate the 94th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the new spring; look toward the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2024); and respond to the "All people do exercise following the example of Great Uncle Ho" campaign.

It attracted over 3,000 runners who are officials, civil servants, and public employees of the province's departments, agencies, and organizations; as well as officials, civil servants, public employees, soldiers, students and residents in Son La city.

The athletes joined a 5,000m run on challenging roads with curves through the hamlets of Chieng Den commune, embracing beautiful scenery with hillsides along both sides covered with the pure white of plum blossoms.

The joyful atmosphere, the friendliness of the people in Chieng Den commune and the picturesque landscapes on the way made the Olympic Run more meaningful, making people respect and love the land of Son La more.

Before the runners competed and responded to the "The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind" campaign launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, delegates and athletes donated money to the "For the Poor" Fund. This was also an early spring beauty maintained by the city at the event.

After the competition, the Organising Committee awarded the first prize in the men's category to Quang Van Them from the provincial Public Security Agency. In the women's category, the first prize went to Leo Thi Tinh from Chieng Co commune. Four second and six third prizes were presented to the male and female winners.

At the event, businesses, delegates, and runners donated 36 million VND (1,467 USD) to the "For the Poor" Fund. All donated money was given to Chieng Den commune.
