Nong and Pat hamlets currently have nearly 200 households. For years, residents and students from these hamlets have faced significant challenges when crossing the Nam Pat stream, especially during the rainy season, when rising waters and strong currents make travel dangerous. At some times, the localities have even been isolated for several days.
In response to these challenges, Son La Newspaper, which was assigned by the provincial People's Committee to assist Bo Sinh commune, teamed up with relevant agencies in Song Ma district to conduct site surveys and make cost estimates for the construction of a bridge over the stream. It also called for donations from organisations, individuals, and businesses, both within and outside the province, to contribute to the construction of this vital steel bridge.
The bridge is designed to be 2.5m high, 16m long, and 1.5m wide, with a total estimated cost of nearly 260 million VND (10,230 USD). Its primary sponsor is Hanoi-based Tan Phat Equipment Technology JSC, with additional funding from Son La Newspaper and nine co-sponsors. The construction is scheduled to be completed in early December 2024.
This project aims to address the transportation challenges faced by local residents, making it easier for local students to reach school.
On this occasion, leaders of Song Ma district and Son La Newspaper also presented gifts to Nong and Pat hamlets on the occasion of the Great National Unity Festival.
