Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong on November 11 attended the groundbreaking ceremony for an emergency project to resettle residents in areas at risk of landslides in Tang hamlet, Nam Lau commune.

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the emergency resettlement project in Tang hamlet, Nam Lau commune.

In July 2025, heavy rains and flooding caused large cracks to appear in Tang hamlet, putting 15 households at risk of landslides and rockfalls. To safeguard residents’ safety and livelihoods, the provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No. 2561/QD-UBND on October 15, 2025, launching an emergency resettlement project in Tang hamlet, Nam Lau commune. The project will be built in the central area of the hamlet to ensure long-term safety and stability.

The 1.7-hectare project, with a total investment of over 11 billion VND (around 418,000 USD), will be carried out in two phases. Phase 1 covers site clearance and construction of essential infrastructure to provide residents with basic housing and living conditions. Phase 2 will complete facilities to support the resettlement and stabilisation of community life. Phase 1 is expected to finish by December 31, 2025, allowing residents to begin building homes. Each household will be allocated 250-350 square metres of land at the resettlement site.

In his remarks, Cong commended the Nam Lau communal People’s Committee for arranging the resettlement site. He urged the communal authorities and the construction unit to quickly complete Phase 1 procedures, including site clearance and leveling, so residents can start building homes from January 1, 2026. He also encouraged the 15 beneficiary households to tackle immediate challenges, focus on developing livelihoods, and boost their incomes.
