Former NA Vice Chairwoman join Great National Unity Festival in Quyet Thang ward

Tong Thi Phong, former Politburo member, former Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA), and former Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, attended the Great National Unity Festival at Residential Area 8, Quyet Thang ward, Son La city on November 17.

In the joyful and exciting atmosphere of the Great National Unity Festival, delegates and local people recalled the 94-year history of the Vietnam National United Front (now Vietnam Fatherland Front) (November 18, 1930 - 2024). They also reviewed the results of the patriotic emulation movements and the “All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilized urban areas” campaign carried out by the local community in 2024.

The residential area has 305 households with 1,253 residents, representing five ethnic groups. The local people consistently uphold the tradition of unity, and actively implement the Party's policies, the State's laws, and the local regulations. It has established and maintained 10 self-managed inter-family groups and launched several community models such as the "Intergenerational Self-Help Club," the "House of Wisdom – Library of Love" model, the “Community Learning Group” and the “Drug Prevention Group”.

In response to the “All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilized urban areas” campaign, the residential area has installed a security camera system, added public fire-fighting points, and set up a Wi-Fi network at the community cultural center. The urban landscape has improved, with streets and alleys becoming brighter, greener, cleaner, and more beautiful. The local economy, especially in the service and trade sectors, has grown rapidly. Education and talent promotion, and cultural activities such as arts and sports have flourished. In 2024, 100% of the households in the residential areas were recognized as "Family of Culture."

Addressing the function, Phong expressed her hope that the Party cell, the management board, and the front work board of Residential Area 8 would continue to encourage officials and residents to effectively implement the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, and the local regulations. She emphasized the importance of fostering the strength of national unity and actively participating in campaigns and patriotic emulation movements, making practical results in celebration of the upcoming Party congresses at all levels.

She also encouraged the community to maintain the title of "Cultural Residential Area," sustain the community learning models, and further promote education promotion to help maintain the title of "Global Learning City." She called for continued unity in building a civilized urban area.
