Ground-breaking ceremony held for Long Sap Primary-Secondary Boarding School

The Ministry of Education and Training, in coordination with several agencies and provincial authorities in border areas, held a simultaneous ground-breaking ceremony for a series of inter-level boarding schools in mainland border communes on November 9 morning.

The event was broadcast live on national television channel 1 (VTV1) from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., connecting to 14 locations across the country. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the main ceremony at the site of the Yen Khuong commune Primary-Secondary Boarding School in the central province of Thanh Hoa.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the Long Sap commune Primary-Secondary Boarding School were Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of Son La province’s delegation of National Assembly deputies Hoang Van Nghiem, other officials, as well as local residents, teachers, and students.

The ceremony was broadcast live on STV channel and digital platforms of Son La Newspaper and Radio-Television.

The Long Sap commune Primary-Secondary Boarding School is one of the 13 inter-level schools being developed in Son La under the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 81-TB/TW on building schools for border communes. It is also among the 100 schools nationwide selected for construction or renovation as pilot models for future replication.

The school, located in Phat hamlet, Long Sap commune, will cover nearly 5 hectares, featuring 30 classrooms and accommodating more than 1,000 students. The project includes a range of modern facilities such as classroom blocks, specialised subject rooms, a library, an administration building, dormitories and staff housing, a student canteen, a swimming pool, an outdoor sports area, and other auxiliary structures.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dung called on all-level Party committees and authorities in Son La to take vigorous action, treating the project as a key political task.

He urged them to closely coordinate and provide all necessary support for site clearance, land allocation, and assistance to contractors to ensure the project’s schedule, quality, and absolute safety.

He emphasised that design, construction, and supervision units must carry out their work with dedication, responsibility, and professional ethics, so that the school becomes a model of a modern, safe, and friendly educational institution, meeting the expectations of the Party, the State, and the local ethnic communities.

In his remarks, Nguyen Minh Tien, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, expressed deep gratitude to the Party and State for their guidance and support in enabling the early implementation of schools in the province’s border communes.

He also affirmed that provincial authorities will continue to direct departments and units to closely coordinate in promptly resolving issues arising during construction.

The provincial education sector will prepare staff, teachers, and curricula so that once completed, the school can operate effectively and sustainably, truly becoming a centre of knowledge and a place where the aspirations of ethnic minority children can take flight, the official said.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs and Son La province presented gifts to the Long Sap Primary-Secondary Boarding School, as well as to 10 prestigious individuals and 20 impoverished households in Long Sap.
