Muong Thai commune comprises six hamlets, home to 988 households with 4,568 people. Beginning with a low starting point in its journey towards the new-style rural area status, the commune faced numerous challenges. By 2021, it had achieved only 10 out of 19 criteria. With support from the State, the communal Party Committee and authorities implemented comprehensive solutions, with a focus on the communications work to raise public consensus in the work.
In 2024, the locality mobilised over 27.7 billion VND (1.08 million USD) for the programme. Of this, local residents contributed over 680 million VND. Investments were made to construct and renovate four hamlet cultural houses, costing more than 2.8 billion VND. The district People's Council allocated over 273 million VND for rural road construction. To date, the commune has paved over 3.2 km of inter-hamlet roads and is currently working on roads running to three highland hamlets, expected to be completed by 2025.
