Poor families, children in Son La city receive Tet gifts

Son La city on January 13 organised a programme to present Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts to disadvantaged households and children in the locality.

The event was attended by Ha Trung Chien, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Council, along with representatives from local agencies, businesses, and donors. 

At the programme, agencies, businesses, and donors presented Tet gifts to 63 impoverished households, each receiving 1.8 million VND (70.89 USD) along with essential supplies. Additionally, Party cells and sponsors provided financial support to 56 underprivileged children, each with 1.5 million VND for a three-month span. These children will continue receiving assistance of 500,000 VND per month over the next three years, totaling 18 million VND per child.

Furthermore, the city’s Fund for the Poor and business association handed over Tet gifts to 203 near-poor households, each with 800,000 VND.

Social welfare remains a priority of the local Party organisation, authorities, and agencies, with due heed paid to poor and near-poor households, as well as disadvantaged students, ensuring that they enjoy a warm and joyful Tet holiday.
