The event was attended by Cha A Cua, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; leaders from various provincial departments and agencies, districts, and Son La city, along with teachers and students.
Formerly the provincial Ethnic Children's School established in 1964, over the past 60 years, the school has continuously developed, with modern, well-equipped facilities, including classrooms, practice rooms, dormitories, a canteen, a football field, a vegetable garden, and a fish pond. The teaching staff is highly skilled, with 100% of teachers meeting or exceeding the required qualifications.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the school continued to demonstrate its strong performance. All students graduated from high school, with an average exam score of 7.08, 0.68 points higher than the provincial average. Its students won 45 awards at the provincial exams for excellent students. The school secure the third place overall with 18 medals in the provincial Phu Dong Sport Games.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hau encouraged the school to continue implementing Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW, dated November 4, 2013 by the Party Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive renovation of education and training. This is essential to meet the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the context of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration. He also urged the school to further promote digital technology in teaching and learning, continuously innovate and improve the quality of educational management under the new general education curriculum.
He emphasized the importance of reviewing and assessing the quality of education staff, ensuring proper training, and supporting teachers' professional development. The school should also focus on improving the management, health care, and material and spiritual lives of students, he said, urging students to follow the example of their teachers, develop a love of learning, be determined to excel, and unite to help one another progress.
On this occasion, the provincial People's Committee awarded the flag recognizing the school as a leading unit in the emulation movement for the 2023-2024 academic year to the school, and the certificates of merit to six individuals. The Ministry of Education and Training presented its certificates of merit to 11 individuals; and the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education (VAPE) presented the certificates of merit to the provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities. The provincial Department of Education and Training also awarded its certificates of merit to 12 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the construction and development of the school.
