Provincial leaders hold dialogue with farmers

"Supporting Son La farmers in linking production and consumption of products to promote sustainable agricultural and rural development" was the theme of a dialogue with farmers chaired by Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong on November 12.

An overview of the dialogue.

Attending the event were leaders of the provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilisation Commission, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, departments, and sectors, and 120 officials and members of farmers' associations, enterprises and cooperatives representing over 160,000 farmers in the province.

The dialogue took place in an open atmosphere, with 19 questions from officials, members of farmers' associations, cooperatives and enterprises in the whole province, focusing on agriculture, farmers and rural development. In addition to the questions answered at the event, unanswered questions will be collected by the provincial Farmers' Association and sent to relevant departments and agencies for written responses.

A leader of the provincial Department of Transport speaks at the dialogue.

The dialogue was an important and democratic forum for farmers, and representatives from cooperatives, enterprises, and organisations, and individuals working in the field of agriculture and rural areas to directly reflect their thoughts and aspirations to the provincial People's Committee; raise difficulties and problems; and propose mechanisms and policies related to agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong speaks at the dialogue.

Addressing the event, Cong requested that Party committees and authorities at all levels continue to thoroughly grasp, disseminate, and effectively implement the Party's resolutions and policies, the State's mechanisms and policies on agricultural development, rural economy, associated with building new-style rural areas in the direction of "ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, civilised farmers". Departments and sectors were required to listen to farmers' opinions and recommendations; and review regulations and policies to propose appropriate amendments and supplements so that they can truly come into life.
