Accompanying the provincial Party leader were Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Dao Tai Tue, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Construction; along with leaders of several provincial departments and agencies.
In Muong Bu commune, the delegation inspected the progress of the banana processing plant of MUSA GREEN JSC in Cup hamlet. The project covers an area of more than 18,000 square metres, including facilities for agricultural product processing and preservation, banana fiber production, and banana powder production, with an operating term of 50 years.
To date, the enterprise has basically completed major infrastructure items such as land leveling, workshops, warehouses, and several auxiliary facilities, and is expected to come into operation from the fourth quarter of 2025.
In the initial phase, the plant will process about 2 tonnes of bananas and approximately 10 tonnes of banana stems per day. Once operating stably, it is expected to create jobs for around 30-40 local workers, with a minimum income of 6 million VND (228 USD) per person per month, contributing to increasing local budget revenue.
The provincial Party leader also surveyed the planned area for an embankment to prevent landslides in the Muong Bu stream residential area, as well as the planned site for the new headquarters of the commune Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee. Local leaders reported on the implementation of the planning schemes as well as difficulties and obstacles encountered during execution. They also proposed that the provincial authorities allocate resources to soon implement these projects to ensure residential safety and meet long-term development requirements.
Following the field inspection, the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee acknowledged and appreciated the proactive efforts of MUSA GREEN JSC in implementing the project, and requested provincial departments, sectors, and local authorities to continue providing attention and support, promptly addressing difficulties, and creating favourable conditions for the project to be completed soon.
At the same time, he emphasised the need for departments, sectors, and localities to further enhance their sense of responsibility and proactively advise the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee on specific solutions to accelerate progress, ensure quality and investment efficiency, and bring projects into operation as soon as possible.
During his working session with Son La Hydropower Plant, Secretary Nghiem listened to a report on the plant’s operational results. As of December 15, 2025, the total electricity output of Son La and Lai Chau Hydropower Plants had exceeded 161 billion kWh. In 2025 alone, figure is estimated at 14.5 billion kWh, exceeding the assigned plan.
Son La Hydropower Company has contributed nearly 30 trillion VND (1.14 billion USD) to the state budget, with an annual average of over 2.4 trillion VND. In 2025, the company is projected to contribute approximately 3.158 trillion VND, allocated to localities and the Forest Protection and Development Fund in accordance with regulations.
Regarding future tasks, the company proposed an expansion of Son La Hydropower Plant through the construction of two additional turbines with a total capacity of 800 MW, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and contribute to ensuring national energy security, especially during the dry season.

The provincial Party chief appreciated the role of the hydropower plant as a key national energy supplier and its significant contribution to local socio-economic development and budget revenue. He noted that any proposal to adjust or expand investment must be carefully prepared in terms of legal basis, technical aspects, and economic efficiency.
He requested Son La Hydropower Company to continue closely coordinating with authorities at all levels, sectors, and localities to complete documentation and develop a feasible plan as a basis for the province to submit recommendations to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Government for consideration and approval in the coming time.
