Son La province is home to 95 historical sites, of which 64 have been classified (two special national sites, 16 national sites, and 46 provincial sites), while 31 others remain unclassified. These sites are closely linked to the history and traditional culture of Son La and its people, and they have been continuously preserved, restored, and upgraded. They serve as “red addresses” for educating future generations about patriotism and are invaluable resources for economic and tourism development.
The Moc Chau National Tourism Area is not only known for its picturesque landscapes and majestic mountains but also for its rich human resources, including diverse ethnic cultures and numerous valuable historical sites. However, many of these historical sites are still not widely recognized and have not been fully utilized for tourism development.
The seminar featured 15 presentations from managers, scholars, and researchers in the fields of culture and history. Topics discussed included management and promotion of historical and cultural sites associated with tourism development; assessment of landscapes to define tourism development spaces connected with historical sites; and solutions for connecting the Moc Chau National Tourism Area with tourism in Bac Yen district.
Participants also discussed research into history and culture to create narratives that symbolize tourism culture, contributing to the development of the Moc Chau National Tourism Area; promotion efforts in connecting Moc Chau's tourism with the historical sites of Son La province; and how to utilize the values of historical and cultural sites in the development of spiritual tourism in Son La province.
The seminar contributed valuable materials, clarified both scientific and practical foundations, and proposed solutions to maximize the value of historical sites, tap potential, and create cultural, historical, and spiritual tourism products that will attract visitors.
