Steering Committee 501 meets to evaluate the progress of implementing the task of building Moc Chau district into a township by 2025.

In 2023, the Steering Committee has focused on implementing tasks and solutions and achieved many important results. The planning making and adjusting have been carried out synchronously, with two urban subdivision planning schemes in Moc Chau district completed, including Moc Chau town center and Moc Chau Farm town center. It has completed the appraisal of the construction planning of the Long Sap International Border Gate.

Infrastructure has continued to be improved, with six out of the 24 key projects decided by the provincial People's Committee and district People's Committee completed. The remaining projects are being implemented, with ensured progress.

Nearly 560 billion VND (23 million USD) has been allocated for urban development in 2023. The completion of fourth-tier urban criteria for Moc Chau urban area to date has achieved 82.93 points, all the five criteria and 56 out of 63 standards.

For the Moc Chau National Tourist Area, among five conditions with 20 criteria, 19 criteria have been achieved and one criterion on concentrated waste collection and treatment is yet to be met. The province strives to have the Moc Chau National Tourist Area recognized in the first quarter of 2024.

Speaking at the meeting, Khanh requested members of the Steering Committee to focus on well implementing goals and tasks, regularly report progress and review obstacles and difficulties in fulfilling the criteria and standards, especially in planning, investment, and implementation of key projects, thus proposing solutions and recommendations to the Steering Committee.

Agencies and units must well perform their roles and responsibilities, set out clear completion deadlines and show clear effectiveness, striving to build Moc Chau district into a township and have the Moc Chau National Tourist Area recognised according to the set roadmap, he noted.
