Attending the event were Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong; leaders of VFI Investment, Trading and Production; and representatives from several provincial departments and sectors.
The company successfully completed the construction of the VFI Son La Food Processing Plant in Mai Son Industrial Park after eight months of construction. The plant covers an area of 5,000 square meters, with a total investment of nearly 100 billion VND (3.8 million USD). It is equipped with seven synchronised production lines, including two modern main technological lines: a vacuum-frying line for producing natural crispy dried fruits and vegetables that retain their color, flavour, and nutrients; and an advanced freeze-drying line specialised in processing cold-dried fruits and vegetables.
The company’s processed products have obtained international food safety certifications such as Halal, EU Food, FDA, JAS, and HACCP 22000, serving both the domestic market and targeting exports to Europe, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. With a processing capacity of 8,000 tonnes of fresh agricultural products per year, the plant’s total estimated revenue is 300 billion VND. It is expected to directly employ more than 150 local workers and indirectly support the livelihoods of thousands of farming households in the raw material areas.
The plant is expected to become one of the key deep-processing facilities in the province, enhancing the consumption of fresh agricultural products, significantly reducing processing pressure in raw material areas, boosting exports, and contributing to increasing value and elevating the brand of local agricultural products in international markets.
Speaking at the ceremony, Cong emphasised that the operation of the VFI Son La Food Processing Plant demonstrates the province’s determination to develop a modern processing industry linked to local agricultural strengths. It represents an important driving force for enhancing added value and marks a strategic step toward promoting green and sustainable economic development in the province.
