Humanitarian market held in Chieng On commune

The Red Cross Society of Son La province coordinated with the provincial Party Committee’s Inspection Board and the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV)’s Son La branch in organising a humanitarian market in Chieng On commune, Yen Chau district, on May 7.

 

The humanitarian market is held in Chieng ON commune, Yen Chau district.

At the event, themed "Humanitarian journey - giving and receiving love,” the staff of the communal health facility and military health workers of the Chieng On Border Guard Station provided medical checkups, consultations and medicines to nearly 300 people from poor and near-poor households.

They also guided locals how to prevent and control some infectious diseases and stay healthy, and gave dietary advice to the elderly.

The market featured eight pavilions displaying instant noodles, candy, sugar, MSG, cooking oil and summer blankets, among other items. Each disadvantaged household was given a voucher worth 600,000 VND (23.61 USD) that could be exchanged for basic necessities. Organisers distributed 200 such vouchers, with a total value of 120 million VND.

On this occasion, the organisers also handed over 2.7 tonnes of rice from Tong Thi Phong, former Politburo member and former Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, to 90 disadvantaged households in Chieng On and Phieng Khoai communes, each with 30 kg,

 Disadvantaged households receive gifts as part of the programme.
