Lanterns light up Son La children's dreams

The Youth Union of Son La province coordinated with the provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Sop Cop district People's Committee to organize a Mid-Autumn Festival programme for children themed "Lanterns light up Son La children's dreams" in Muong Leo commune, Sop Cop district on the evening of September 27.

At the programme, children learned about the origin and meaning of the Mid-Autumn Festival, chatted with characters Sister Hang and Uncle Cuoi, joined folk games, and enjoyed unique musical performances and attractive lion dances.

Leaders of the provincial Youth Union and Sop Cop district award "Vu A Dinh" scholarships to students.

On this occasion, the provincial Youth Union awarded 13 "Vu A Dinh" scholarships, worth 1 million VND (41 USD) each, to disadvantaged students with outstanding academic performance; donated nearly 700 lanterns, candies and 1,000 sets of school supplies, with a total value of 150 million VND (6,150 USD) to students of Muong Leo ethnic boarding, primary and secondary schools.

The provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the provincial Study Promotion Association and Viettel Son La presented 40 scholarships worth 40 million VND (1,640 USD) in total to children in difficult circumstances.
