At the Department of Education and Training’s venue, the conference brought together department leaders, representatives from several schools, IT teachers, and heads of parent associations from To Hieu High School, Chieng Sinh High School, Quyet Thang Secondary School, Le Quy Don Secondary School, To Hieu Secondary School, Quyet Tam Primary-Secondary School, Tran Quoc Toan Primary School, Quyet Thang Primary School, and Chieng Le Primary School.

The event was connected online to nearly 400 venues across the province, with the participation of about 1,000 school administrators, IT teachers, and parent association representatives.

The project was developed under Decision No. 1241/QD-UBND dated May 29, 2025, of the provincial People’s Committee.

Key targets include raising teaching capacity, with all IT teachers expected to meet international competency standards by 2030. The curriculum will be revamped to integrate modern content such as programming, computational thinking, cybersecurity, and digital applications.

The programme also aims to improve graduation quality, with 90% of students projected to obtain international IT certificates by 2035. Infrastructure will be expanded through a synchronised system of facilities and online learning platforms, improving access for students in remote areas.

In addition, Son La will strengthen international cooperation by partnering with reputable education organisations to keep pace with new technology trends and standards.

Delegates attend the conference from Son La province.

At the conference, representatives of ICDL Vietnam introduced the “ICDL Digital Student” programme, highlighting the global recognition and value of ICDL certification. They also presented a learning ecosystem that includes the EduX learning platform and the Skillbox practice and testing system, along with guidance on training, assessment, and international ICDL exam procedures.

The provincial Department of Education and Training instructed schools on implementation processes, principles for budgeting, fee structures, and financial management during implementation.

The ICDL Digital Student programme, developed by leading experts from the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS), has been widely adopted in many countries. It aligns with the Digital Competency Framework for learners issued by the Ministry of Education and Training under Circular No. 02/2025, serving as a key tool to realise the project’s objectives.

Department of Education and Training leaders stressed that the ICDL Digital Student programme will not only help students strengthen digital skills in line with international standards but also offer advantages such as exemptions from basic IT courses and exams, and meeting IT graduation requirements at many universities and colleges in Vietnam.

ICDL pledged to work with the department, sharing international experience to support the project’s rollout and advance Son La’s education sector digital transformation goals.

The project marks a new phase in training and standardising digital skills for students, helping narrow the digital gap, improve workforce quality, and support the province’s sustainable development.
