Son La steps up firefighting, rescue dissemination, practice

The firefighting and rescue teams of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Division under the provincial Department of Public Security on March 16-17 simultaneously organised dissemination, experience, and practice of fire prevention and fighting and rescue for thousands of officials, teachers and students in some schools in the province.

Dissemination, experience, and practice of fire prevention and fighting and rescue at the Son La Medical College.

They are the Son La Medical College and the Kim Dong Primary School in Son La city; the Moc Ly High School and the 8/4 Primary School in Moc Chau district; and the Chieng Lao Secondary School and the Chieng Lao Primary School in Muong La district.

Within the framework of experiential activities, the fire prevention and fighting and rescue police force provided knowledge and skills in handling fire and explosion situations and escape skills when fires occur in households and crowded places; and introduced the inter-family fire safety group model, the public firefighting model, and the "My house has a fire extinguisher" movement.

In addition to getting knowledge about fire prevention and fighting, participants had an opportunity to practice firefighting and rescue, including escaping using a ladder truck, spraying water into the focus box, using a portable fire extinguisher to fight fires caused by gas leaks, evacuating people, escaping in confined spaces, and providing first aid for victims, and demonstrating techniques of using rescue ropes.

These activities ensured absolute safety for people and vehicles. During two days, more than 6,000 officials, teachers, and students came to practice and experience such activities at the sites. This was a very meaningful activity, introducing basic and modern firefighting and rescue equipment and facilities that the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police force is currently using. It also helped raise awareness and knowledge about fire prevention and fighting and rescue for participants.
