Thuan Chau completes 73 houses for poor households before Lunar New Year

In response to the Prime Minister's campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, since the beginning of January, Thuan Chau district has supported the construction of 73 houses for poor households, with the goal of completing them before the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2025.

The house for a poor household in Khau Lay hamlet, Phong Lai commune, Thuan Chau district, is urgently being completed.

The people of Dun hamlet and local mass organisations in Phong Lang commune, Thuan Chau district, are supporting poor households in building homes.

The district People's Committee has ensured funding to support households, with 60 million VND (2,369 USD) per new house and 30 million VND per repaired house. Mass organisations have coordinated with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies’ district branch to help families access loans for replacing makeshift houses. Specialized agencies have worked with communes to conduct on-site inspections, assess housing plans for each family, assign responsible officials, mobilise resources from the community and households, and make use of local materials and labour to assist families in building or repairing their houses.

As of January 18, the district had completed 66 out of 73 houses. The remaining seven are under construction, with more than 70% of the work completed. Thuan Chau district is striving to complete the replacement of 73 temporary houses before January 25.
