Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, on October 8 chaired a meeting with relevant departments and agencies to discuss tasks related to the Moc Chau–Son La–Dien Bien Expressway (CT.03) project - section running through the province.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment has been organising 50 training courses on surveying, collecting and updating information, and building a database of coffee-growing areas across 27 communes and wards in the province, in response to the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) .

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc has signed Decision No. 1948/QD-TTg dated October 7, 2026, on the establishment of a State Appraisal Council for the pre-feasibility study report of an investment project to build the section running through Son La province of the Moc Chau - Son La - Dien Bien Expressway (CT.03).

From the 2026–2027 academic year, schools across Son La province have introduced artificial intelligence (AI) into mainstream teaching from primary to high shool education, with 12 lessons per year. After four days, from September 28 to October 1, Week 2 of the online quiz on administrative reform in Son La province concluded, attracting 23,897 entries from officials, civil servants and public employees.

In 2026, Mai Son commune was allocated 89 billion VND (3.43 million USD) in public investment capital to implement seven ongoing projects and five newly launched projects. As of October 2, more than 56 billion VND had been disbursed, equivalent to over 63% of the annual plan. Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council and deputy head of the provincial Steering Committee for Preventing and Combating Corruption, Wastefulness and Negative Practices, on October 6 chaired a conference to implement the Steering Committee’s decision to conduct oversight of the Standing Board of the Mai Son commune Party Committee. Hung also heads the supervision team established under Decision No. 05-QD/BCD issued on October 1, 2026 by the Steering Committee.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on October 6 chaired a meeting with provincial departments and agencies to prepare for the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Son La People’s Committee on developing science and technology, innovation and digital transformation to support the province’s socio-economic development in 2026-2030.

After years of struggling along a severely deteriorated dirt road, joy has come to Mong ethnic minority people in Long Hom hamlet, Phieng Cam commune, as a new road is under construction. The Tong Chinh-Na Va road is being widened and paved with concrete, promising to transform the remote mountainous area. Taking advantage of the dry season, the contractor is mobilising machinery and workers to accelerate construction, with the road targeted for completion and opening to traffic by the end of 2026.
