For those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in the fresh, peaceful atmosphere of a village while exploring unique local cultures, the farmstay model is an ideal choice. Farmstay, also known as “farm stay” or “farm vacation,” is a tourism model that combines relaxation with agricultural experiences such as farming, harvesting, processing agricultural products, and shopping directly at the farm. Not just a new trend, farmstay bridges tourists and local agricultural products, contributing to the promotion of OCOP (one commune, one product) items and local specialties.

With its cool climate year-round and rich soil, Moc Chau is an ideal place for agricultural development with a variety of crops and livestock. Moreover, it boasts unique cultural identities of 12 ethnic groups, making it a perfect location for experience-based tourism, including the farmstay model. Thanks to its ability to combine relaxation, hands-on experiences, and cultural exploration, farmstay attracts tourists of all ages, from children to adults, especially families and foreign visitors seeking connections to nature and local life.

The farmstay covering more than 8 hectares of the 19/5 Agricultural Service Development Cooperative in Chieng Di residential area, Binh Minh ward, is drawing numerous visitors. Here, they can immerse themselves in the fresh air, with lush green tea hills, and the pristine white of pear and plum blossoms each spring. The farmstay offers comprehensive services, including dining, accommodation, relaxation, and herbal foot baths. Visitors also have the chance to participate directly in agricultural activities. Depending on each season, they can experience strawberry picking, grape harvesting, caring for chickens and rabbits, or watering vegetables and harvesting crops with local farmers.

It also includes a processing workshop and an display area for OCOP products, offering visitors the opportunity to directly experience the production process and enjoy local specialties right at the source. Products such as Moc Chau tea, peppermint honey, cow’s milk, dried plums, and hawthorn wine not only serve the needs of visitors but also become unique gifts filled with the flavours of the mountainous area.

Nguyen Hoang Anh, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: "I am truly impressed by the natural landscape and agricultural products of Moc Chau. Immersing ourselves in the fresh air allowed my family to enjoy peaceful and relaxing moments, connecting to nature, recharging our energy, and finding balance after stressful working days."

Moc Chau currently has eight farmstays. To develop and maintain their operations, these farmstays focus on using environmentally friendly materials, minimising concrete usage, and preserving the natural landscape. They also ensure service quality, support the connection of farmstays with OCOP products, and create value chains linked to agriculture and local culture.

The farmstay model in Moc Chau not only offers a relaxing experience but also creates opportunities for the sale of OCOP products and local specialties in a sustainable way. Instead of relying on supermarkets and traditional markets, Moc Chau’s specialties can be directly accessed by tourists, helping to increase brand recognition and expand market reach. The combination of experience-based tourism and product commercialisation not only adds value to agricultural products but also creates a unique identity, making Moc Chau’s agricultural tourism more attractive and distinctive.
