Provincial Election Committee convenes first meeting

The provincial Election Committee convened its first meeting of the committee on November 24.

Chairing the event were Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and Chairman of the provincial Election Committee; and Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial Election Committee.

The meeting was attended by members of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, members of the provincial Election Committee, and leaders of relevant departments, agencies, and sectors.

During the event, participants discussed and approved draft documents of the provincial Election Committee, including the Decision on issuing the Working Regulations of the provincial Election Committee; the notice assigning tasks to committee members; the Decision on establishing working groups to assist the committee; and guidance for implementing key election tasks in December 2025 for the election of commune- and ward-level People’s Council deputies for the 2026-2031 term.

The provincial Election Committee was established with 31 members, and all 75 communes and wards have formed their respective election boards. Agencies and units have closely followed central regulations and directives, proactively issuing guiding documents and implementing election-related tasks according to their assigned functions and responsibilities.

At the meeting, Viet requested that the provincial Election Committee’s standing office finalise and complete the draft documents for issuance under the committee’s authority. Committee members were asked to focus on preparing content for consultation and approval by the Standing Board of the provincial People’s Council and the Standing Board of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front regarding the establishment of election boards for National Assembly and People’s Council deputies, as stipulated.

Members were also tasked with submitting proposals to the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board on the number of electoral units, lists of electoral units, and the number of deputies to be elected to the 16th National Assembly in each unit, as well as the number of electoral units, lists of electoral units, and the number of provincial People’s Council deputies to be elected in each unit, in accordance with regulations.

All work must follow the election schedules for the 16th National Assembly and local People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term, ensuring progress, quality, efficiency, and compliance with legal requirements.
