Provincial leader urges accelerating upgrade of Long Sap into int’l border gate

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on December 11 inspected the progress of a project to upgrade the Long Sap main border gate into an international one, and reviewed the implementation of a programme to do away with temporary and dilapidated houses in Long Sap commune.

The project consists of three main components: land levelling according to the planning scheme; construction of an urban-standard road system; and construction of technical infrastructure. More than 3.2 billion VND (121,500 USD) has been paid for compensation and site clearance. To date, land levelling has been completed; and roadbed excavation has reached over 99%. The disbursement rate has hit 56.4%.

Regarding the implementation of the programme to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Long Sap commune People’s Committee has verified current housing conditions and prepared reports as a basis for providing housing support based on specific criteria, while also mobilising residents to contribute workdays and construction materials. The review identified 14 households eligible for housing support, with four houses currently under construction.

After the field inspection, Hau requested the provincial Border Guard Command to closely coordinate with relevant departments, sectors, and local authorities to urge the contractor to promptly increase machinery and manpower, work extra shifts, and accelerate construction progress. He also emphasised the need to complete settlement documents to ensure timely disbursement, adding that the commune should focus on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses according to the provincial People's Committee’s plan and prepare for implementation in 2026.

Meanwhile, the border guard force and local authorities were required to strengthen grassroots monitoring and effectively manage and safeguard border sovereignty and security.
